About Us
Med4Nicaragua is a volunteer group of physicians, nurses and many other medical and non-medical people who have come together through a special bond and desire to help those in this world who have limited access to health care and especially surgical care.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I will be posting updates leading up to the trip. The point of our blog is to stay as connected as possible with our friends and family, as well as the people who have donated their time or money to assist us in our efforts.
A Little About Our Group:
Med4Nicaragua was founded by two women, Dr. Christine Brody, an ObGyn, and Valishia Savage. After the pair traveled to Casa Bernabe orphanage in Nicaragua in early 2010, they decided they wanted to help the entire community. They created a four-person team to pioneer the group's first medical mission trip later that year. The team was able to complete seven surgeries at the El Samaritano Clinic.
In April of this year, we will be returning with a larger and more diverse team to attend to the various needs of the orphanage and the local community. There are 22 physicians, nurses and many other medical and non-medical on our team, and we plan to complete 20-30 surgeries in our week-long trip!
